Temples of Singapore Buddha Tooth Relic Temple
Located in the center of Chinatown this magnificent southern Chinese-style temple has been our first temple to visit in Singapore. It houses a Buddha tooth relic, which was brought here in 2002 from Burma. We spent several hours in this temple and visited several times over the week we spent in Singapore because it is a huge temple with many things to see. Buddhist texts were recited in the main hall by monks and lay people every time we visited. The third floor houses the Nagapuspa Buddhist Culture Museum, which is excellent. On the fourth floor is the highly protected sacred tooth of Lord Buddha in the Sacred Light Hall. On the roof of the temple is the pagoda of 10.000 Buddhas and the huge Vairocana Buddha Prayer Wheel, which is turned by worshippers.
