Temples of Singapore Sakya Muni Buddha Gaya Temple
You wouldn't expect this temple in Singapore but rather in Thailand normally. Not from an architectural point of view but from it's 15 meter tall Buddha statue. A Thai monk founded the temple back in 1927. In the center of the temple hall is the 300 tonnes image of the Sakyamuni Buddha. Under the giant statue is a small chamber with a reclining Buddha image. A beautiful mother-of-pearl inlay footprint of Lord Buddha is also located in the main hall, as are statues of Brahma, Ganesha, Maitreya and Kuan Yin. Like in most temples in Singapore I met a friendly staff member who guided me around the temple. .........
