Temples of Singapore Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Temple
Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Temple is a fascinating temple. It is huge! We spent 3 hours in this temple alone. Singapore's largest temple "helped promote the Buddha's teachings and bringing the Dharma closer to the public". Founded in 1920 the temple was the first traditional Chinese forest monastery in Singapore. The most visible building is the Pagoda of 10,000 Buddhas which has a huge Medicine Buddha statue in the main hall. The Hall of Great Strenght contains a beautiful Thai-style Buddha image, while the Hall of Great Compassion houses one of the most beautiful Guan Yin images I have seen so far. There is also a huge Guan Yin statue outside in a park-like setting. Books and CD's are available in the store of the temple, which is close to the Hall of Universal Brightness, containing three beautiful Burmese-style Buddha statues. An amazing place to visit when in Singapore! .......... Last temple Back to main temple page
