Amitabha Buddhist Center

Amitabha Buddhist Center

The Amitabha Buddhist Center is in Geylang, towards Eastern Singapore. It is affiliated to the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition and was established in 1989. It offers studies and practice of Mahayana Buddhism and is located in a seven-story building. A friendly person working in the center was kind enough to show me around and explain the various statues and religious objects to me, since I am not really familiar with Tibetan Buddhism. I had picked my day to visit specially because it was the full moon day, which in the Theravada tradition is the "Buddha Day" only to learn that it had not really any significance in this center. The upstairs ABC Shop has religious objects, books and CD's for sale.
